Music

The quote often attributed to St. Augustine, “A prayer sung is a prayer prayed twice” speaks to the importance of music as part of the spiritual experience. Built on the solid foundation of former St. Paul’s musicians, the Music Program at St. Paul’s is deeply rooted in the Anglican and Episcopalian musical traditions. We source our hymnody from the Hymnal 1982 as well as supplements from other Episcopalian resources such as Wonder, Love, and Praise. Anthems and liturgical music spreads across a large spectrum ranging from the standard repertoire to quality compositions by modern composers. Music at St. Paul’s is coordinated by our Director of Music and Organist, Matt Hill. St. Paul’s is served by three main ensembles: the St. Paul’s Adult Choir, the St. Paul’s Choristers, and the St. Paul’s Handbell Choir. In addition to our Sunday services of Holy Eucharist, additional services such as occasional Choral Evensong and Lessons and Carols are offered throughout the year.

The mission of our Music Program is to engage musicians and, most importantly, to bring meaningful, God-centric music of the highest integrity possible to the worshiping life of our parish. The vision for all who participate is that each person be integrated into a loving, multi-generational community that serves the mission of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church. Every musician is taught to become a part of one strong voice of Christ’s body through worship and outreach. In turn, our musicians, representing many generations, invigorate and energize our worshiping congregation.

For more information about the music program or to audition for one of our choirs, please email our Director of Music, Matt Hill.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Baptism. Confirmation. Marriage. Funerals. At these extraordinary times, we celebrate them as sacraments. According to the Book of Common Prayer, sacraments are "outward and visible signs of inward and spiritual grace, given by Christ as sure and certain means by which we receive that grace." We look forward to sharing these special sacramental moments with you.

At St. Paul’s, the history of our parish is important to us. When you walk into the narthex of the church, you are greeted with the pamphlets named “A Brief History of St. Paul’s.” Our history reflects how we came to be a parish in beautiful Beaufort, North Carolina, but it also continues to inform how we move and remain present in the community today. We hope you will take the time to learn a little bit more about us.

    Our History

We as Episcopalians believe in a loving, liberating, and life-giving God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. St. Paul's is part of the Episcopal Church, a church that is both rich with ancient tradition and relevant to life in the 21st century. We believe that God loves you - no exceptions.

We believe in following the teachings of Jesus Christ, whose life, death, and resurrection saved the whole world.

    Give Now Pledge Stewardship

Providing crucial financial support to our parish and its ministries is a big part of how we express our commitment to this special community of faith.

    Give Now

This year’s pledge drive is about more than our parish budget. It is about how we transform generosity and allow generosity to transform us. Our lives can be changed through this work. YWe all are invited to work together to transform generosity in our church, our community and our lives.

    Make a Pledge

Stewardship is our total response to the fullness of life given to us by the God in whose image and likeness we are made and remade. We believe that all that we have and all that we are ...our time, our talents and our treasure is to be offered back to God, to be used in partnership with Him and His Church for the salvation of the world. This is a lifelong process that we ,as followers of Jesus, give ourselves freely too.
